Surprisingly, having sex outside of the fertile window improves your chances at conception as well! Sexually active women see maximal cycle-related shift in humoral immunity, which is the aspect of the immune system that involves molecules found in bodily fluids. These shifts are associated with changes in the body that help prepare it for pregnancy5 . In additional to immune benefits, sex outside of the fertile window provides a chance to enjoy intimacy without the added stress of trying to get pregnant. Trying to conceive may become all-consuming, but enjoying sex may make the journey even more positive.

- Track your cervical mucus cycle: cervical secretions; changes in cervical secretions are suggestive of a preovulatory estrogen effect. If you notice when your cervical mucus becomes increasingly more slippery, clear and stretchy, your body is getting ready for ovulation.
- Track Luteinizing Hormone (LH): LH is a hormone produced by your pituitary gland. Your body always makes a small amount of LH, but just before you ovulate, you have an LH surge. Products that test for this LH surge, which usually happens 1 – 1½ days before you ovulate, must be carefully used for accuracy. To track LH, you will need to purchase LH sticks that detect your levels via urine. Typically you will urinate on the sticks soon after your cycle ends every morning until you ovulate.
- Track your temperature: basal body temperature rises shortly after ovulation, approximately 0.275 5°C, as a result of progesterone release from the corpus luteum. This method requires dedication to waking up the same time every morning and charting the results. The temperature rise can be unreliable and is usually identified retrospectively.
- Calendar Method: if you have a regular cycle that does not vary more than two days each month, you may be able to predict ovulation using the calendar calculation. Ovulation occurs approximately 14 days before the onset of menstruation. However, many women do not have such regular cycles and therefore their luteal phase may vary individually from 10 to 16 days, making it harder to predict ovulation by calendar calculations alone. Using a cycle tracking app is a great way to help keep charting of these biomarker parameters more simple. You can also use the data to show your doctor if necessary.

The lifespan of sperm inside a woman’s body is under debate, but experts agree that it depends on cervical mucus, which provides the sperm with the nutrients and the medium they need to survive during their journey to the ovum7. Sperm can be damaged by the vagina’s natural acidity which protects against foreign bacteria8, but in the right conditions, sperm can even live up to 59 or 6 days in your body after intercourse10; 11. This is an incredible feat compared to the brief lifespan of a mere few hours when no cervical mucus is present12.

The Ayola Ring Ayola Ring does not need to be removed to have sexual intercourse. However, if there is any discomfort experienced by you or your partner, the ring may be removed. To enable the most accurate fertile window predictions, the sensor should be cleaned and re-inserted as soon as possible afterwards.
You may have heard that contractions from an orgasm can help sperm successfully travel to the egg. The one paper that explored this notion concluded that it’s “unlikely”14. So no need to stress if you orgasm before or after your partner does or if reaching an orgasm during intercourse is difficult for you to do.
However, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention there’s a scientific basis to this notion. Uterine contractions do help propel sperm, but the contractions aren’t from your orgasm or even under your direct control15. Instead, these uterine contractions — which are believed to be regulated by your hormones — happen continually throughout the follicular phase of your menstrual cycle… The contractions even increase right before ovulation to give sperm an extra push in the right direction

While this notion is related to the idea of lying in bed after sex, we don’t have any data on whether hoisting your legs in the air after sex increases your chances of conception.
Still, this myth is a popular one in the „Trying to Conceive” community. Searching for its origin led to a research rabbit hole. One possible explanation for why the legs-up idea has gained traction is the position kind of mirrors the Trendelenburg position, which is common in medicine. In the Trendelenburg position, you lie on your back with your feet elevated. If you’ve ever been on bed rest, you may have been instructed to lie in this position. It is sometimes used to prevent preterm birth with a weakened cervix16. But again, science doesn’t show that this position conveys any conception benefits following sex.

It might seem like common sense that certain sex positions, like missionary style, would boost your chances of pregnancy. After all, penetration is deeper in the missionary position (and doggy style) than others. In reality, we don’t know if there’s an ideal position to have sex to get pregnant since scientists haven’t weighed in on this precise question.
That said, we do know that sperm are naturally programmed to swim to the egg17, no matter the position. The best answer right now is to choose sexy-time positions that feel great for you and your partner.

Data & Security
Ring measures temperatuire data every 6 minutes and send these data to Ayola App once every hour. Every two hours all data is trensferred to a cloud where algorithm analyse and send back sign about the fertility window infomration.
The Ayola Ring will store your temperatures for approximately 30 days and deliver them according to the syncing schedule once the app is reopened.
The Ayola App will store your temperatures for all of your cycles during the time it is paired with the Ayola Ring. Temperature graphs and cycle notes for all cycles will always be viewable on your Ayola App. The Ayola Ring can be used for up to 180 days.
Each Ayola Ring is supplied with a Bluetooth Pairing Code. The Ayola Ring will only communicate with the Ayola App if the Bluetooth Pairing Code has been entered. Being around another active Ayola Ring will not affect your results.
No. The Sensor can store up to 30 days of un-synced temperatures.
It’s important to keep your mobile device as close to your body as possible during syncing, for about one minute or until a syncing occurs. Every woman’s body is different! Depending on your anatomy, you may find placing your phone in front of you works well. Or, you may find that having it in a back pocket works best. Some women may find placing the mobile device in front of them works well, while others may need to place it closer to their side or back pocket. If syncing doesn’t work on the first try, don’t panic. Your temperature data is stored in the Sensor and will not be lost. Simply try a different position for your mobile device for the next scheduled sync.
How Does Ayola system help?
The Ayola Ring continuously measures your core body temperature and sends your temperature information to the AYOLA App. The AYOLA App stores and analyzes your temperature measurements to detect your fertile window. The AYOLA App will notify you when it has predicted your fertile window.
Ayola is effortless and precise. You can insert Ayola in the comfort of your home to effortlessly pinpoint your fertile window and predict ovulation. Continuous core body temperature is a highly reliable way to track temperature patters to predict the fertile window (cite Coyne18). The chance for user error, as compared to other methods, is significantly reduced by Ayola’s automated data collection. It’s a wealth of information about a person’s changing fertility.

Temperature patterns, through continuous monitoring, have been established as a highly reliable marker for circadian rhythm19. By continuously monitoring a woman’s core body temperature, a subtle temperature shift associated with ovulation can be detected and the fertile window identified.
19 Brown, E. N., Choe, Y., Luithardt, H., & Czeisler, C. A. (2000). A statistical model of the human core-temperature circadian rhythm. American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 279(3), E669-E683.
The Ayola App may generate the following notifications during your active cycle.
Fertile window – When the Ayola App detects temperature variations that indicate imminent ovulation, you will receive a notification, and your fertile window will be highlighted on the temperature graph on the “Home” screen.”
Ayola is intended for continuously measuring and recording core body temperature as an aid in ovulation prediction to aid in conception. Unlike other ovulation prediction aids that is only worn at night, Ayola is designed to be worn 24 hours per day for up to 29 days per cycle to continuously track core body temperatures.
Core body temperature should be measured continuously to see the patterns in temperature data that illustrate dynamic changes correlated to circadian rhythms which have been shown to accurately pinpoint a woman’s fertile window.
Compared to basal body temperature and other ovulation prediction methods, Continuous Core Body Temperatures (CCBT) does not require following certain rules and provides an accurate and precise prediction of ovulation. By using Ayola certain CCBT is collected night and day to catch important changes in temperature patterns that could occur at any time.”
Basal body temperature (BBT)
BBT, or your temperature at rest, is generally not sensitive enough to capture the subtle changes that occur prior to ovulation and is also affected by environmental factors such as medication, lack of sleep, and alcohol. Since BBT detects the rise in temperature after ovulation has occurred, the fertile window has ended. BBT also requires taking daily temperature at the same time every morning20.
Since continuous core body temperature is collected night and day from inside the body, it is not impacted by the factors mentioned above and is able to detect temperature patterns that predict the fertile window BEFORE ovulation occurs.
Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
Ovulation predictor kits (OPK) that measure a surge in the production of LH in urine are widely used, but the days with the highest probability of getting pregnant often occur before a detectable LH surge. The surge occurs roughly 24 hours before ovulation, which may be too late for conception21. Also, since individual LH surges are extremely variable22, the LH surge can be missed, even by those who test daily.
CCBT measurements give women more time to have intercourse during peak fertility, maximizing the chance of conception. CCBT also avoids the limitations of LH testing with variability in the surges and duration prior to ovulation.
Sensors
Peripheral sensors (those worn on the wrist, for example) may make collecting temperature easier, however, research shows that skin temperature may not be an accurate predictor of ovulation23. For example, temperatures taken with a wrist temperature sensor indicated sustained 3-day temperature shift in only 82% of cycles and the lowest temperature in the cycle occurred in the fertile window 41% of the time. In addition, most temporal shifts (86%) occurred on ovulation day or later24.
CCBT can provide accurate and precise prediction of ovulation25, and true CCBT is collected at night and day to catch changes that may occur at any time in a 24-hour period26.

How to insert and use
The Ayola Ring is a flexible vaginal ring that is self-inserted at home. It is for vaginal use only. The Ayola Ring does not need to be inserted by a Doctor.
To ensure an accurate fertile window prediction, insert the Ayola Ring on the day your period ends (or within 24 hours). You must clean and disinfect the Ayola Ring before each use with the following instructions.
he Ayola Ring should be cleaned with a product such as DISPATCH Hospital Cleaner Disinfectant Towels™ or Oxivir Tb Wipes™ which have been tested and shown to be safe and effective. Refer to full cleaning instructions in the Instructions for Use. Never expose or submerge the sensor in boiling water; doing so will void your warranty.
- STEP 1: Disinfect Ayola Ring for first use
Wash your hands.
Dispense the disinfectant towel from its package or container.
Clean the outside of the Ayola Ring with one disinfectant towel according to the instructions provided with the disinfectant towel.
Discard used towel according to the instructions provided with the disinfectant towel.
Dispense a second towel from its package or container.
Disinfect the Ayola Ring by wiping all outside surfaces thoroughly according to the instructions provided with the disinfectant towel.
Wait at least 1 minute and make sure the Ayola Ring is completely air-dried before inserting. Make sure there are no bubbles from the cleaning agent that remain.
After 1 minute, you can rinse the sensor under running water to remove any residual cleaning agent. - STEP 2: Prepare Ayola Ring for insertion.
Place your thumb next to the LED window and index finger across to compress the sensor.
Prepare the Ayola Ring by gently pressing on it to fold it into an oval shape.
*Do not twist the Ayola Ring to insert the device, as this could damage the interior components - STEP 3: Choose a position for inserting Ayola Sensor:
Choose a position for inserting the Ayola Ring that is most comfortable for you.
For example, you may lie down. You may also try squatting or standing with one leg up on a chair. - STEP 4: Inserting Ayola Ring into your Vagina.
Insert the compressed Ayola Ring into your vagina. Gently push it further up into your vagina using your index or middle finger. The Ayola Ring may move around slightly in your vagina. This is normal.
If you feel discomfort, the Ayola Ring may not be fully inserted. Use your clean finger to push the Ayola Ring further into your vagina. Any initial discomfort should resolve quickly. If you find that the Ayola Ring is “”dry”” to insert, apply a very small amount of standard water-based lubricant for vaginal use or a fertility-friendly lubricant such as Pre-seed®. DO NOT use gels with warming or cooling additives; the lubricant should not contain a spermicide. After insertion, wash your hands.
To ensure an accurate fertile window prediction, the Ayola Ring should be inserted on the day your period ends (or within 24 hours after your period ends)(see Section 5.5 of the IFU). Do not pair your Ayola Ring until you are ready to insert it. The Ayola Ring should not be worn during your menstrual period.
The Ayola System is not effective if you start using the Ayola Ring more than two days after the end of your period and will not allow you to pair the Ayola Ring and Ayola App.
To enable the most accurate fertile window predictions, you should start using your Ayola Ring on the last day of your period. However, you can start using your Ayola Ring up to two days after the end of your menstrual period. The Ayola Ring is not effective if you start using the Ayola Ring more than two days after the end of your period and will not allow you to pair the Ayola Ring and Ayola App.
The AYOLA System is composed of the Ayola Ring and the Ayola App. On the last day of your period (or within 24 hours after your period ends) you will pair your Ayola Ring with your Ayola App using Bluetooth™. Once the two are paired, you will insert the Ayola Ring into your vagina, and the Ayola System will begin to track your core body temperature. After creating an account with the Ayola app and inserting the Ayola Sensor:
Your temperature data will be visible on the ‘“Home” screen once the Ayola App receives the first temperature reading.
The app will not display temperatures immediately. The sensor reads a temperature every 6 minutes and sends them over Bluetooth® in groups of 10 readings, thus temperatures sync with the app hourly.
The “sensor” tab displays the time of your next expected temperature sync.
Remember:
Once the Ayola Ring has paired with your mobile device, the Ayola App MUST be running in the foreground or background. If the app is completely closed, your data will not be transmitted, and you may miss your fertile window prediction.
Keep the Bluetooth on your mobile device on at all times – the Ayola App cannot receive temperature information if Bluetooth is turned off.
The Ayola App must have access to Wi-Fi or mobile data to upload your temperature and cycle information to the cloud.
To ensure the most accurate communication and data transfer from the Ayola Sensor, it is best to keep your mobile device in close proximity to your body during the expected sync times (e.g., in your front or back pocket or while you’re sleeping, on the nightstand next to your bed).
The Ayola App attempts to send temperature are saved to the cloud every time they are received from the Ayola App. Therefore if you uninstall and reinstall the Ayola App your data is still backed up on the cloud.
Yes, simply install the Ayola App on your new device and sign into your Ayola account with the email and password used while creating your Ayola account.

Yes. The Ayola Sensor has been validated for in-flight safety. Because the Sensor uses Bluetooth low energy, you are not required to turn it off during flight.
The Sensor takes temperatures every 6 minutes and transmits to the app hourly. Therefore, you may not see temperatures for the first hour, or until the succesful sync. Please see solutions above.
No. The Sensor can store up to 30 days of un-synced temperatures.
The graph in the “Home” screen displays your temperature values over time. The “Sensor” tab displays the last time temperatures were synced from the Sensor to the phone, and the last time the temperatures were synced to the cloud. Cloud syncs will be attempted every time temperatures are received from the Sensor.
It’s important to keep your mobile device as close to your body as possible during syncing, for about one minute or until a syncing occurs. Every woman’s body is different! You may find that having it in a back pocket works best. Depending on your anatomy, you may find placing your phone in front of you works well. Some women may find placing the mobile device in front of them works well, while others may need to place it closer to their side or back pocket. If syncing doesn’t work on the first try, don’t panic. Your temperature data is stored in the Sensor and will not be lost. Simply try a different position for your mobile device for the next scheduled sync, or take out the ring for the next sync and place near your phone. Sync once per day is sufficient for the prediction.

Possible side effects may include:
Vaginal Irritation – The Ayola Ring is made of durable, medical-grade non-absorbent silicone. It should not irritate the inside of your vagina if cleaned and cared for properly. If at any time during your use of the Ayola Ring you experience any discomfort, discontinue use and contact your healthcare provider.
Vaginal Sensitization – One could have a sensitivity to any substance, but it is extremely rare to have a sensitivity to silicone. Studies indicate that silicone is biocompatible with the body. This is why silicone has been used in healthcare applications for over 50 years. If you do experience skin sensitivity, immediately discontinue use and contact your healthcare provider.
Vaginal Infection – Vaginal infections should be treated with appropriate antimicrobial therapy before using the Ayola System. If a vaginal infection develops during use of the Ayola System, then the Ayola Ring should be removed (see Section 5.9), and you should contact your healthcare provider.
Sensor Removal Difficulty – On rare occasions, the Ayola Ring may adhere to the vaginal wall, making the Ayola Ring removal difficult. Vaginal wall ulceration or erosion should be carefully evaluated. If an ulceration or erosion has occurred, consideration should be given to leaving the Ayola Ring out and not replacing it until healing is complete, in order to prevent the Ayola Ring from adhering to the healing tissue.
If you are unable to remove your Ayola Sensor, don’t panic. Refer to the instructions for sensor removal in this IFU (Section 5.9 “Removing and Turning Off the Sensor” and Section 11 “Frequently Asked Questions”). If the Ayola Ring was removed during intercourse, clean according to cleaning instructions (see Section 4) before you re-insert. To achieve the most accurate fertile window prediction, the sensor should be re-inserted as soon as possible (within 1-2 hours).
Tampon Use – you should not be wearing a Ayola Ring during your menstrual period, and therefore, you should not be using a tampon at the same time that you’re wearing the Ayola Sensor.
